When replacing your windows, there are some parts of the building regulations that apply. At Yate Windows, we can ensure that your new windows and doors comply with all the following regulations below.
All bedroom windows upstairs should have a window with a 450mm clear opening. All doors that require safety glass should be fitted within 300mm of doors or is below 800mm of the floor level. Additionally, trickle vents provide background ventilation and are necessary when building new homes. If your existing windows have them, your new windows should also have them.
If you are doing any work that involves moving or changing a lintel, it should be inspected by a local authority building inspector. When it comes to energy efficiency, all windows must have a BFRC rating of ‘C’ or above.
Most windows should have the equivalent of 1/20th of the floor area in opening sashes.
